the steel used to make the statue of liberty weighs about 125tons about how many lbs of steel were used to make the statue of liberty?

125X2,000=250,000

The key to this problem is the word "about"...it means you can estimate. A ton is 2,240 pounds but unless you have a calculator it's much easier to do the math with 2,000 pounds. "About" gives you permission to do so.
