Use the clue in parentheses to write a metaphor to complete each sentence. My dog is (runs away often) a ___________. (Just a line, word does not need this many letters :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you know what a metaphor is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Some I've already answered, Her eyes were (sparkling) like "diamonds". So you were supposed to put something that sparkles. So I put diamonds.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And yes I do know what a metaphor is. It is something that is said sarcastically or means something else.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

maybe "escape artist" ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ha ha... Ok :P I told my parents maybe like a chicken at McDonalds! :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh!!! What about Houdini my parents just said. How he used to get out of everything.

OpenStudy (ashleyisakitty):

Does the "like a" rule apply here? Doesnt it always with metaphors?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No you are thinking of a simile. Similes always have like or as they are comparing things. Metaphors have "as" kind of like, " She was as light AS a feather."

OpenStudy (ashleyisakitty):

Ah, thanks!
