have to take a test with equations like this... 12x+4y=-1 followed by y=-3x+1 can anyone help me solve this so i can do other problems similar to it?

Maybe you mean to find the x-intercept or y-int or let x= any number then solve for y
or let y= any number--->solve for x

Im not really sure if its the intercept or not. It was an example of my online test and I was just trying to figure out how to find x an y before I went into the test and took it. I cant get back to the example now for some reason or I would look again.

let use for example equation: y=-3x+1
x-int: y=0----->                   0=-3x+1
                                                3x=1
                                                  x=1/3
therefore you get point (1/3,0)
