Water obtained from natural resources does not show neutral pH. What is the reason behind this?

I think that a higher pH might come from water that has come from limestone country - a little bit dissolves in the water and alters the pH - the CaCO3 in the limestone makes an alkaline solution. I think acidic water comes from peat bogs where the soil is acidic.
