The west Africans grew wealthy though trade because they made taxes for people who came in and out of their territory.

Umm I literally just made this account so I'm not sure what that means *sheepish grin* and West African's taxed people for coming in and out of their territory sorta like a tool booth of sorts, but I don't think that's the answer my teacher is looking for. She doesn't have choices but the question isn't stated like, how did the West African get power through trade.... arg I don't think I'm making sense
