Stalin’s communism and Hitler’s fascism, while different in some ways, were similar in that both __________. A. were totalitarian ideologies B. believed in laissez-faire capitalism C. were anti-Semitic D. believed that Germans were the master race

Communism most definitely didn't believe in laissez-faire capitalism and the Nazis weren't the greatest fans of it, either. While Hitler's Nazism was brutally anti-Semitic, Stalin's communists were not -- though they didn't care about Jews one way or the other, either, but didn't go after them the way that the Third Reich did. And Stalin's communists most certainly didn't believe that Germans were the master race. So the only answer that fits both would be (A) were totalitarian ideologies. Both Hitler and Stalin were virtual dictators over their respective countries with power centralized into their hands alongside the apparatus that supported them.
