The British were actually our allies and we weren't fighting in the Revolutionary War, so "redcoats" is definitely out. The Soviets were also our allies -- at least for the time being -- so it can't be (C).

I'd probably say (B) German forces. The US was keen to finish off Hitler quickly so that it could concentrate on the Japanese. The Pacific Theater was also primarily a naval battle utilizing battleships, planes, and island hopping to whittle down the Japanese forces there, so technically, not as many boots were needed on the ground on that side of the world.
