put into factored form? x^3 – 3x^2 – 10x

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

first take out x x(x^2 - 3x - 10) can you factor the trinomial in the parentheses?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

uhmm.. i think so ? 5&2 ?

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

-5 and + 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea i got that lol i just cant think of where

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x(x-5)(x+2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ahh ok, is that it or is there another step? cuz that looks right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, first, it start off as what cwrw said; x(x^2 - 3x - 10). then you just factor the quadratic inside the parentheses :) the two numbers must add up to -3 and multiply to -10. -5 and 2 are the two numbers that match those circumstances.

alright awesome thanx
