why is arcsin(cot(3pi/4)) equal to (-pi/2) and not (3pi/2)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

work from inside out. cot(3pi/4)=-1 then arcsin(-1) =pi/2 because when ur doing arcsin ur doing the inverse. so u have to ask ur self sin of what angle gives -1. and so -pi/2 gives -1
