Solve the system of linear equations below. 4x-3y =17 and 5x+4y=60 Please help. very confused!

OpenStudy (hba):

There are two methods to solve a system of linear equation with two variables 1.Substitution. 2.Elimination. Which method do you think you want to solve it with ? Most students find Elimination easier but i would recommend substitution.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I suck at elimination so substituion

OpenStudy (hba):

Awesome so let me show you how to avoid contradiction by naming them @meggy |dw:1354291831208:dw| Use equation number 1 and get the value of x out of it. Use the same page to work by pressing the pencil draw.

OpenStudy (hba):

@meggy I am here for you,start working.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well like what do i do with Y do i ignore it on the first one?

OpenStudy (hba):

Well let it be there you just move everything at one side and get x for me from equation 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just curious dohow do i get everything to 1 side? ive never been good at these and my teachers never tought me this stuff.

OpenStudy (hba):

@meggy Yeah you just get them on the other side,do not worry if you do it wrong i am not going to leave until i get this solved by you :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okk hurray :)

OpenStudy (hba):

So start with equation (1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it wouldnt let me. but some how i got x=14 by taking awaying 4 and then some how i added one and yea i got 14.
