Factor The Trinnomial: 4t^2-4t-15= I have more than just this one i would appreciate it if someone could help me with those too. I dont understand them at all.
i have a method that will work if it has rational factors
Im not really sure what that means but im willin to learn anything that will help me get through this
given: 4x^2 - 4x - 15 is it possible factor out the a 4
if not setup as such: (x /4) (x /4) and we can fill in some details if the last sign is + we have like operators, if its - we have different operators - 15 tells me we have different operators, so fill them in (x + /4) (x - /4) the middle sign tells me which factor is bigger; - 4x tells me that the - sign is larger (x + S/4) (x - L/4) now to find S and L
first times last gives us a product to factor 4 * 15 = 90 what factors of 90 subtract to get the middle term ?
Factor by grouping. 4t^2 - 10t + 6t - 15 4t^2 - 10t factors to be 2t(2t - 5). 6t-15 factors out to be 3(2t-5). Answer: (2t+3)(2t-5)
pfft, i messed up at 4*15 :) its 60 not 90 lol
60,1 30,2 20,3 15,4 12,5 10,6 <-- that one differs by 4 L=10, S=6 (x + S/4) (x - L/4) (x + 6/4) (x - 10/4) ; reduce the fractions (x + 3/2) (x - 5/2) ; if there are still fractions, stick the bottom in front (2x + 3) (2x - 5)
i was never good at factor by grouping .... so i go this route
Thanks for the help yall got it now.
