one disadvantage of globalization in the pacific rim countries is the negative impact on national corporations. While we recieve many cheap products (benefit!) from newly industrialized countries with lax human rights and environmental standards, the drawback is that corporations will not have any incentive to keep jobs in our nations and pay living wages to our workers when they could pay pennies on the dollar to happy pacific rim people.

A definite disadvantage of globalization in developing countries is that a loss of cultural identity occurs; ancient traditions are often forgotten, languages get mixed up, and certain social castes are changed, much to the detriment of the people. A prime example of this is in the Native American cultures. As they were forced off of their land and gradually assimilated into the American Melting Pot, their languages became a relic of the older generations, their customs and traditions a memory, their rich heritage merely a folk tale.
