help!?:) medals rewarded If the measures of two sides of a triangle are 3 feet and 7 feet, which of the following is a possible whole number measure for the third side? A. 3 B. 4 C. 5 D. 10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

--5 --in a triangle the sum of any 2 sides has to greater than the 3rd side so sides a,b,c: a+b > c 3+7 > c 10 > c so c has to be less than 10 the only possible answer is your case is C. 5 --It can't be 3 and it can't be 4... so it must be 5 --I'm not too good at math, but I think you need to know which sides. Anyways, pythagorean theorem- A squared plus B squared equals C squared!
