When approximating the square root of 2 using Newton's Method to the equation (x^2)-2=0, is the solution (+-)1.4142 or just positive 1.4142? Please explain why...

square root can never have a negative value

oh i was looking at this problem wrong...i was thinking you were finding the x value in the equation...and 1.4142 squared whether it is positive or negative will equal two.
