jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

x^2 – 6x + 5x – 30 (x^2 – 6x) + (5x – 30) x(x – 6) + (5x – 30) x(x – 6) + 5(x – 6) I'll let you finish.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thanks, Do i have to contribute?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

what do you mean

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

btw, you have one last step what is your answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like x times x and x times 6 that type of thing

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

oh you mean distribute

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah that sorry

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

no you don't distribute because that would be taking a step backwards

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

how would you factor x(x – 6) + 5(x – 6)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

k let me figure it out im doing it on paper lol

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would it be (x-6) (x-5)?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

close

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

but it's not -5(x-6) it's +5(x-6) so it should be (x+5)(x-6) or (x-6)(x+5)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay so it positive

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thank you for your help I really apperciate it :)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

np

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have one question to this problem that I dont quite get

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what happen to the number 30 from the problem

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

OpenStudy (anonymous):
