.Write the equation of the horizontal line passing through the point (-1, -8). .Write the equation of the vertical line passing through the point (3, 1). .Is the line with equation x = 4 horizontal or vertical? What is the slope of this line? .Is the line with equation y = -8 horizontal or vertical? What is the slope of this line?

do you know how the first line would look like??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1) (5,0) and (5,1) as x=5 (for y part write any real value) 2) (0,-2) and (1,-2) as y=-2(for(x part write any real value)

horizontal line is always y= something. in this case its y = -8 because the line crosses the y axis there. (it also crosses the x axis at -1 at this point, but since its a horizonal line then this is irrelevant) same applies to the second part of the question but with the y axis this time... x = 3 from the above you should be able to work out whether the next two are horizonal or vertical. :)
