(10k^3-8)-(-4k^3+k^2+5)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i combined like terms and got 14k^3+k^2-3

OpenStudy (aripotta):

since this is subtraction, you have to distribute the - into the parentheses, basically just changing the signs

OpenStudy (aripotta):

then you can combine

OpenStudy (aripotta):

you know what i mean?

OpenStudy (aripotta):

(10k^3-8)-(-4k^3+k^2+5) would change to 10k^3 - 8 + 4k^3 - k^2 - 5 so now you can combine the like terms

OpenStudy (anonymous):

14k^3-13+k^2?

OpenStudy (aripotta):

usually you wanna put it in descending order. and k^2 should be negative. so it's 14k^3 - k^2 - 13

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks.

OpenStudy (aripotta):

no problemo
