how would i do this one? (x^2-5x+9)-(6x^2-5x+7)

OpenStudy (aripotta):

distribute the -

OpenStudy (aripotta):

what do you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

where there is + put -?

OpenStudy (aripotta):

yep. and where there's - put +. it's simple. then you can combine the like terms

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 7x^2+10x-2?

OpenStudy (aripotta):

-5x + 5x doesn't equal 10x and 9 - 7 doesn't equal -2 :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

7x^2+0x+2?

OpenStudy (aripotta):

you don't have to put 0x lol. just don't put x in there at all since you've cancelled it out 7x^2 + 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol thanks

OpenStudy (aripotta):

no problem :)
