You are leaving Planet X in a spaceship. As you are traveling, you crash into an asteroid 34 million light years away. How far away from the center of the Planet X is the asteroid in meters? Radius of Planet X is 1 * 10^9.

no velocity? Are you supposed to take into account Lorentz transformation for this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im not exactly sure. This is how the problem was written. It mainly wants us to use light years : 3.00 * 10^8 m/s

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well then just remember that 1 light year is the distance light travels in a year. i.e. 1 ly=3*10^8 m/s x 60s x 60 min x 24 hrs x 365 days
