Calculate the Correct matching value for each function below (Piecewise):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[f(x)=\left[\begin{matrix}-3x ^{2}+2 & x <-1 \\ x+7 & x \ge-1\end{matrix}\right] x=-2\] Find y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[f(-2) = -3*(-2)^{2}+2\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

=-10 but what about the x+7?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

since -2 < -1 you use the first equation of the piece wise equation. The second equation is only used when x>-1 or x= -1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OH okay that makes things make sense...:) Thanks a ton!
