By answering the question in the word problem.
A softball players batting average is the ratio of hits the player makes to the number of times the player is at bat. If ann's batying average is 0.320 how many hits would she expect to get in 25 times at bat? Show how you identify what you are looking for, set up an equation and arrive at you answer. Then clearly state your answer.

the batting average "B"
the number of hits "H"
and the number of time they bat "N"
Then, in general
B = H/N by definition

For ann, your'e given the batting average, and number of batting attempts, or B and N
Rearrange the formula you get
H = B x N
so , H = 0.320 x 25 = 8hits
