One difference between the pharynx and the larynx is that A. the pharynx is above the epiglottis and the larynx is below it. B. only air passes through the pharynx, but both air and food pass through the larynx. C. the pharynx contains the vocal cords, the larynx does not. D. the pharynx directly connects to the bronchi, the larynx is part of the trachea.
I've been staring at this question for a while. We can use a process of elimination first: B can't be true, because food an air pass through the pharynx. But food definitely doesn't pass through the larynx. C can't be true, because it's the larynx that contains the vocal chords, not the pharynx. ~~~~~~~~ So it had to be either A or D. And I don't think D is true, because the pharynx doesn't DIRECTLY connect to the bronchi. I do think it's connected to the bronchi by the trachea.
