Please help When solving systems of equations, how do you determine what method to use?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

you use the method that you are most comfortable with; since all methods lead to the same results the method is immaterial to the answer and only important to the person doing the methodology

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but how do you determine what method you use

OpenStudy (amistre64):

how do you decide which shoe to put on first in the morning? its a matter of personal preference

OpenStudy (precal):

I like to use cramer's rule

OpenStudy (precal):

bottom line, 3 things are possible 1) the two lines are going to cross once and that solution is the location 2) two lines are parallel and they do not cross, we call that "no solution" 3) both lines overlap each other and since they cross in many places we say that it is "infinitely many solutions."

OpenStudy (precal):

also, if I had to pick one method, I would pick elimination.
