The kidneys are very efficient at balancing blood pH. It is critical that blood acidity remain constant. If excess hydrogen ions are present in the blood and increase blood acidity, the kidneys secrete the hydrogen ions. What effect does this have on the pH of the urine?

Any solution with more hydrogen ions will become more acidic. Increasing acidity leads to lower pH. This should help I think!
