Rate of change help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I need help with part c.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\frac{ Y2-Y1 }{ X2-X1}\] Can you find two coordinates on the line? (x1,y1) and (x2,y2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So, 25 would be Y, and 3 would be x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah that's one point! Another point is (0,0) right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now use those two coordinates to find the rate of change using the formula above.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, so \[\frac{ 25 - 0}{ 3 - 0 } = \frac{ 25 }{ 3}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Perfect, good job :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks, so is that the answer or is it 8.333...?

Fractions are generally more accurate than decimals, but it depends what your teacher is asking for. If in doubt, keep it as a fraction!
