Provided below is a solution to the equation 8x + 7 − 2x = 27 − 2. Choose the statement that is true about the given solution. Line # 8x + 7 − 2x = 27 − 2 1 6x + 7 = 25 2 x + 7 = 19 3 x = 12 I think the mistake is in line two?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Both 2 and 3 are incorrect. The best way to check this is to solve the equation: First combine line terms 6x = 18 Thus x = 3 Well right off the bat we can see 3 is wrong. To check to, put "3" into x. 3 + 7 = 10, which does not equal 19. hope that Helps

So line 3 is wrong?

Both Line 2 and 3.
