Joe owns a toy car collection. Each car is stored in a box that is 3 in long,2 in high, and 2.5 in wide. He has 40 cars and wants to pack them in a large box. Estimate the volume of a box that would be enough to hold the rp toy cars.

hartnn (hartnn):

find the volume of small box first. do u know how to ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

um.....3*2*2.5?

hartnn (hartnn):

exactly!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

12 in^3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yay!:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

12*40?

hartnn (hartnn):

now the big box contains 40 such small boxes, so the volume of big box is 40 times volume of small box. Exactly again!

hartnn (hartnn):

how did u get 12 ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

um i did 3*2*2.5

hartnn (hartnn):

that is not 12.....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i mean 15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

600

hartnn (hartnn):

then the volume of large box is 40 times 15 yes.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanku:)

hartnn (hartnn):

600 what ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in^3

hartnn (hartnn):

yes, now its complete :) welcome ^_^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):
