Try caring about this person, use your empathy and put yourself into his shoes. Imagine yourself in the situation and really use your imagination to think, "Damn, I'm STARVING and they're throwing bombs at me and killing MY FRIENDS that I LOVE."

Honestly, I think you're splitting hairs here. Who cares if some arbitrary rule was broken at 4am when this website is nearly dead. Math is the most trafficked section and no one would have glimpsed it had it been put in its proper place. It's not a big deal, he's just a kid wanting some help and we should be encouraging of asking and be enthusiastic to help rather than being so... lame.
