Write the equation of a line in slope-intercept form that is parallel to the line y = 3x +2 and passes through the point (5, 2).

OpenStudy (thomas5267):

A linear equation is in the form of \(y=mx+b\). If two linear equations are parallel to each other, they have same \(m\). (i.e. the two equations differs by a constant.) Hence, the problem is actually finding a equation in the form of \(y=3x+b\) where \(y=2\) when \(x=5\). Try it now.

OpenStudy (nubeer):

can you tell me what is the gradient or slope of this line y = 3x +2
