jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

The length of the midsegment is always half the length of the side it is parallel to

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

(1/2)*(6x+2) = 4x + 36 6x+2 = 2(4x + 36) Now solve for x

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Then use this solution for x to find 6x+2

THANKS

imma try and solve it

Is the answer 17 @jim_thompson5910

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

sry i had them mixed up...my bad 2(6x+2)=4x+36 12x+4=4x+36 12x=4x+36-4 12x-4x=36-4 8x=36-4 8x=32 x=(32)/(8) x=4

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

6x+2 = 6*4+2 = 24+2 = 26 so the midsegment is 26 units
