factor v^4-1296

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You can always take the square root of both factors if there is a minus sign. This problem works out evenly (v^4-1296) = (v^2 - 36)(v^2 + 36) you'll notice that the first term also has a negative sign, so do it again (v^2 - 36) = (v - 6)(v + 6) So the prime factors of v^4 - 1296 are (v^2 + 36)(v - 6)(v + 6)
