simplify 2-x=8-4x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

add x on both sides so you get 2 = 8 - 3x. subtract 8 on both sides to get -6 = -3x. Now divide by -3 on both sides to get x =2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that what u have to do?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeahh. i just forgot my algebra :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cool

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if i just need a function in terms of x for 8-4x-(2-x) what would that look like?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3x-6=y or 3x+6=y plz explain

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which one do you want me answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

simplify 8-4x-(2-x)=y is it the - or the +

OpenStudy (anonymous):

8 - 4x - (2-x) = 8-4x-2+x = 6-3x = y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

think of -(2-x) as -1(2-x). you have to distribute the negative sign

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay. thanks. i am in calc one doing volume btwn 2 curves and i confused my self with this one haha. thanks so much!
