A pink race car passes a blue race car on the track. The blue race car is traveling at a velocity of 36 m/s the pink race race car is traveling at a velocity of 55 m/s. How fast does the pink race car appear to be traveling to the driver of the blue race car? A 55 m/s B 36 m/s C 91 m/s D 19 m/s

so this is a problem about relativity. the trick is to set the observer = to 0. This means you are trying to picture how the pink car looks to the blue car as if the blue car were at rest. so it would simply be 55 - 36

so you wouldnt do anything with acceleration?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No because the problem never specified there was a change in acceleration so we will have to make the assumption that they are travelling at a constant velocity.

thank you!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sure. :)

i have a few more is that ok?
