How long is the minor axis for the ellipse attached?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

8 units

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A. 10 B. 5 C. 8 D. 16 ***so how do i find minor axis?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

8? how'd u get that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so u have 25 and 16 below something squared each right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

mmhmm :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

take the smaller one which is 16 = 4^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so that means from one end of the ellipse to the center, the length is 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay :D and is it like 2 times that? or something?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so from one end to other end 4+4 is 8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you have to find major axis, take the larger number 25 = 5^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so from the center to the longer end of the ellipse is 5 units meaning major axis is 10 units long

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i see and if thats the case my answer would be 10 right? so my answer is C. 8?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

kk thanks!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

center is (-4,1) btw. try to draw the ellipse

OpenStudy (anonymous):

kk thanks!! :D
