DNA would certainly be the best way. I suppose you could make an argument for radiometric dating, but that would only establish relative age, not lineage. So yeah, DNA.
Thanks @ Cassandr4 it's a very confusing question. All of those choices could ultimately be used but I wasn't sure if they mean to identify it immediately or what?
Agreed, but I think the key words in the question are "best way" and "ancestors" You couldn't be certain with the other two answers; DNA is certain.
