You are a scientist working on a glacier when you discover a Cro-Magnon child in the ice. Which of the following would be best to use to determine that Cro-Magnons were ancestors of modern humans? Would they use DNA, appearance radiometric dating or all of the above

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Please help! Of course they look like humans so that is a way they can tell. I guess DNA would be to.

DNA would certainly be the best way. I suppose you could make an argument for radiometric dating, but that would only establish relative age, not lineage. So yeah, DNA.

Thanks @ Cassandr4 it's a very confusing question. All of those choices could ultimately be used but I wasn't sure if they mean to identify it immediately or what?

Agreed, but I think the key words in the question are "best way" and "ancestors" You couldn't be certain with the other two answers; DNA is certain.
