can anyone help me to fully understand eigen values and eigen vectors? i have no question but it's the first time im doing it and im a bit confused so if you could just show me how to work it step by step with a question that would be helpful

suppose you have a matrix A......a number b is said to be an eigen value of A iff Ax=bx...and x is said to be corresponding eigen vector. in other words, b is an eigen value of A if and only if...(A-Ib)=0 has non trivial soln.

multiply the vector x by the matrix A has the same effect as multiply x by some scalar , lambda.
