I keep getting this wrong. Can I get some help please. The length of a banner is 5ft longer than its width. If the area is 84sq ft, find the dimensions. The width of the banner is____ ft and the lenth is____ft.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well lets call the width x since it is unknown and since length is 5 times this length is 5x and are is length*width therefore it is 5x^2=84

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so x = sqrt(84/5) and then just do width equals x and length is 5x after solving for x
