please help!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The change is 10 because everytime x increases by 2 y increases by 10 and so on.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think xP

OpenStudy (anonymous):

k you wanna give another one a try?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Find the rate of change for each table, equation, or graph. How did you find the rate of change?

OpenStudy (chihiroasleaf):

rate of change has the same meaning as slope of a line or gradient, denoted by m slope = change in y / change in x or if we have two points (x1,y1) and (x2,y2) then the rate of change is \[m=\frac{ y _{2}-y _{1} }{ x _{2}-x _{1} }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how does that help me solve the next one yo????

OpenStudy (chihiroasleaf):

for your first problem, consider that you have three points we can use any two points, I'll use the first two points (2,10) and (4,20) so we have x1 = 2, y1 = 10, x2=4, and y2=20 now, can you calculate the rate of change using the formula above? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok hold on let me solve it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it would be 5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right???????????????????

OpenStudy (chihiroasleaf):

yes... :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok can you help with #2?

OpenStudy (chihiroasleaf):

it's similar I think..., let's make the graph looks better.. :) |dw:1354819288993:dw| can you find two points on the line?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

25 and 6????

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nad 0 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

rate of change is 25/6? right?

OpenStudy (chihiroasleaf):

a point in Cartesian coordinates is stated as (x,y) , the horizontal line is x-axis and the vertical line is y-axis, so the first point is (6,25) and the second one is (0,0) Now, what is the rate of change of the line? (use the previous formula)

OpenStudy (chihiroasleaf):

correct... :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cool! can you help with more??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Write an equation in slope-intercept form, point-slope, or standard form for the line with the given information. Explain why you chose the form you used. a. Passes through (-1, 4) and (-5, 2) We will just start with A lol
