What can you conclude about the advantage of the cell membrane being made up of phospholipids? The phospholipids provide structural support for the cell. The phospholipids protect the cell from disease. The phospholipids allow for bonding with glycerol molecules. The phospholipids offer the ability to digest enzymes.
I would say that the phospholipids provide structural support for the cell. But I'm not sure... the argument for it is the following: The attractions between the hydrohobic tails (fatty acids) is placed towards the center of the membrane, while the hydrophilic heads (glycerol, phosphate and the polar molecule) point away from the membranes (towards the inside and outside of the cell) in a aqueous environment. Becuase of this arangement the membrane should be relatively stable.
