I'm looking for an intuitive explanation for the the coriolis effect on wind. Specifically, how it's known that in the northern hemisphere, wind gets turned toward the right. I don't properly understand the forces that make that happen.

This picture shows what I think should happen. This is based on me thinking of the centrifugal force of the rotation of the earth. This picture is wrong. So I must not be accounting for something, or maybe my idea that it has to do with centrifugal force is wrong as well... |dw:1354836457823:dw|
