Which equation has a graph perpendicular to the graph of 7x = 14y – 8 ? y = –2x – 7 y = –x + 4 y = x + 1 y = 2x + 9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Put your equation in y=mx+b form. Then the slope for the perpendicular equation will be the inverse and with an opposite sign. So do (1/m)*(-1) and that will be the slope for the perpendicular line. That should be enough to find the solution.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so y= 1/2x + 4/7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then it would be -2 for slope

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Correct!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If there were more than one, you'd have to get the full equation. But as is, you know enough to say which is the correct answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah true :) thanks
