Having trouble with a problem: "Use difference quotients with \[\Delta x=0.1\] to estimate \[f _{x}(2,1)\] where \[f(x,y)=e ^{-x}\sin(y)\] . As far as I know I should be using the formula \[\frac{ f(a+h, b)-f(a,b) }{ h }\] I've come up with (.103-.114)/.1 which is approx -.11, but apparently that is wrong? Am I using the wrong forumula, or just missing a step? Any help?
