so i have to solve for x...Equation: 5 with an exponent of -x+4 =88

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you type out the equation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

with the exponent.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[5^{-x+4}=88\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

have you learnt log?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well I'm sorry I can't help you with this one because this relates to natural log and I have only learnt normal log so far. The answer can be seen here though. http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=5%5E%28-x%2B4%29%3D88

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whats the difference between natural and normal log??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Basically, the difference is the base in "regular" logs the base is 10 in natural logs the base is e = 2.7183.....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

e is an irrational number like \[\pi \] which is 3.142.....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok well thanks for the link

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no problem, I would have really liked to help you but I can't cause I haven't learn it, sorry!

OpenStudy (anonymous):
