OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is the minimum value of the function = 2x^3 - 9x^2 + 12x + 4? a.6 b.8 c.5 d.7

OpenStudy (zugzwang):

There is no minimum unless an interval is defined... this function can go pretty low, so to speak...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[ 2x^3 - 9x^2 + 12x + 4 \]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think its 8 guys what do you think?

OpenStudy (zugzwang):

How do you figure that?

OpenStudy (phi):

As zugzwang pointed out, this function has no global minimum. It goes to - infinity as x -> -infinity. It does have a local minimum. However, I think it is a bad question, because the function does not have a (global) minimum.
