Meiosis. Meiosis produces gametes, which are haploid, and have half of a specific organism's chromosomes. If you need extra help, then just remember that meiosis produces sex cells, then think of it this way: gametes are sex cells (sperm and egg). Human sperm fertilizes egg (zygote). Sperm+Egg=46 chromosomes. Sperm and egg both have the same amount of chromosomes. 23+23=46. Thus sperm and egg both have 23 chromosomes.
