A boy falls while riding his bike. A scrape on his hand almost immediately begins to bleed and becomes red, warm, and swollen. What response is occurring?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

red, warm and swollen appearance are symptoms of inflammation of the wound. I guess it's the inflammatory response.

My best answer would be an immune/immunity response. It is a response of the bodies first defence system, the skin! The acts as a barrier to prevent entry of any sort of bacteria or virus. When a wound such a scrape has occurred, red/blood, swelling and warmth soon occurs, thus, signs of blood clotting, to seal and close the open or thorn skin.

it is an inflammatory or hypersenstive reaction.
