Solve 30.45 ÷ 8.2 to the nearest tenth. check your answer using [any] 2 estimation methods . Show Your Work

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To solve it, just type it in a calculator and then round the answer to the nearest tenth. Do you know any options for estimation methods?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not really ^^"

Did you get the calculator answer yet?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or, if you have to do it by long division, I guess do it that way... not sure if "show your work" means you can't use a calculator... depends on your class rules.

i dont think i can use a calculater idk though

One way to estimate is to realize that 30.45 is sort of near 32, and 8.2 is pretty near 8, so you could do "mental math" by estimating the answer as 32 divided by 8 = 4. That's just an estimate, but it would help you to know that the answer is about 4, in case you solved it and accidentally got the answer to be 300 or something way off.

Ok thanks

I guess another estimate might be to estimate 30.45 as "30" and 8.2 as sort of near 10. 30 divided by 10 is 3, so the answer is approximately 3. Our other estimate was approximately 4, so now you know the answer is probably between 3 and 4.
