sounds like you want to find the equation of the line with a slope of 1/3 and that goes through (5,1) is that right?

ya it for gtaphing so you go up 5 over 1 and then so how you get 1/3

(5,1) is the point you can start at. You use the slope 1/3 to go up one, over three from that starting point.
