Solve the equation 3x = 45

OpenStudy (jennychan12):

divide both sides by 3 x=9 :)

OpenStudy (kuoministers):

the opposite of times is divide so you would divide both sides by 3 which gives you x = 9 Jennychan12 gave a good example anyways

Thanks can you show me how you got that

OpenStudy (jennychan12):

how i got 9? you want to isolate x, so i guess just divide by 3 on both sides? \[3x=45\] \[\frac{ 3x }{ 3 } = \frac{ 45 }{ 3 }\] \[x=9\]

Thanks
