solve 3^x+1=1/27

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3^x = (1/27) - 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3^x = -26/27

OpenStudy (slaaibak):

I think he means \[3^{x+1} = {1 \over 27} \] \[3^{x+1} = {3^{-3}} \] so x+ 1 = -3 x = -4

You can also take log(base 3) from each side and solve.
